Resilience

– the desired behaviour of our Renewable Energy Systems –

Resilience is a highly interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary topic. Applications of this concept can be found in various disciplines. Therefore, there are several different definitions, explaining resilience with different words.

We will start working with an initial definition from Simonsen et al. 2021, whom work with social-ecological systems:

Resilience is the capacity of a system to deal with change and continue to develop.

This definition provides a short but complete explanation. In the slides presented below, we give you our interpretation of the different parts of this definition, especially concerning the application of the resilience concept to Renewable Energy Systems.

Which kind of system capacities are able to deal with different stressors? Why? Try to match them.
